Michael Tyne

Michael Tyne was born in 1964 in Lancashire, England. During the course of what is usually described as a "chequered" career, he has worked as a Stock Market analyst, a van-driver, a labourer, a bartender and a restaurant manager. He is now employed in what he calls Car World,  which still isn't sure quite what to make of him.

He has been writing for thirty years, and began to publish as an independent in 2014, completing his apocalyptic fantasy trilogy, The Shattered Land in early 2017. His fourth novel, The Last Great Radio Show (A Short Novel about Rock Music and Ghosts) is in a gentler, more humourous vein, whilst continuing his imaginative fascination with his native Great Britain, with its history, and with the "hidden worlds" which might exist beneath the surface of its society. His fifth novel, Sharkey, follows similar themes, confronting the tragedy of homelessness and its history, in a world in which Magic, of a very human kind, is real. It was his most successful book to date and was recently featured on BBC Local Radio. Michael's sixth novel, The Final Resort is a combined horror story, urban fantasy and murder mystery, rooted in history and splashed with humour, as an off-beat group of local characters confront evil in a fading English seaside resort. His seventh novel, Osaka, which is now in progress, will be the first in which he has adopted an international setting. A dramatic and intense fantasy spanning decades, it confronts the possibility of an evolutionary shift in humanity, seen through the eyes of a vivid and diverse group of characters . Osaka is scheduled for publication in the summer of 2020.

Michael has lived, at various times, in London, Norfolk and Bermuda; but settled in a small town in the Peak District of England nearly twenty years ago, on the basis that he's been dreaming of a quiet life since he was seventeen and has finally found one.

He's been living with his beloved other half, Hannah,  for almost fifteen years and has a twenty-one-year-old son from his first marriage. Outside of books, his enthusiasms include sports - particularly rugby of both flavours - cooking, music, history, and beer.
